Neunzehntes Kapitel.
Die ältesten Deutschen in Iowa.

Im Censusbericht von 1895 ist eine Ehrentafel, auf welcher die Namen, das Alter, Wohn- und Geburtsland aller derjenigen angegeben wird, welche das 90. Lebensjahr überschritten haben. Unter diesen sind folgende alte Iowaer, deren Wiege in Deutschland stand. Es sind mehrere Pennsylvanier deutscher Abkunft darauf, wie z. B. Christian Conrad von Coffin Grove, Delaware County, der verflossenes Jahr starb und das merkwürdig hohe Alter von 119 Jahren erreicht hatte. Des Raumes wegen müssen wir uns auf die Deutschen beschränken:
