This is a letter from Herbert J. Metcalf to John W. Behm in regards to closing German schools at Yorktown, Iowa and Clarinda, Iowa. He mentioned to Behm that he or the State Council of National Defense had no authority to prevent German ministers from preaching in German. But if Behm was able to convince the people in a peaceful manner then she commended him for his work. Metcalf also appreciated the people showing their loyalty and cooperation to their county.
