<strong>Neues deutsches Blatt</strong>. Soeben erhielten wir den Prospektus einer neuen deutschen Zeitung, die in Carroll City in zwei Wochen erscheinen soll. Die Herausgeber sind die Herren Bowman und Burkhart, und soll dieselbe "Der Carroll Demokrat" heißen. Die Tendenz des Blattes soll demokratisch sein, und es sich hauptsächlich zur Aufgabe machen, die Interessen des Deutschtums zu verfechten. Der "Demokrat" soll uns herzlich willkommen sein, und wünschen wir ihm im Voraus Glück.<br /><br />* * * * *<br /><br />Florence Sewing Machine Co. -- Die Supreme Court der Ver. Staaten hat kürzlich den Prozeß der Florence Näh-Maschinen Compagnie gegen die Singer, Grover & Baker und Wheeler & Wilson Näh-Maschinen Compagnien, bei welchem mehr als $250,000 in Frage stunden, zu Gunsten der Florence Compagnie entschieden.<br /><br />* * * * *<br /><br /><strong>Das Ende der Theater-Vorstellungen</strong> in der Turnhalle in für diese Saison erreicht und es thut uns wie manchen Anderen recht leid. Das Stück, das letzten Sonntag aufgeführt wurde: "Das Volk, wie es weint und lacht!" war ein höchst schwieriges und wurde so gut gegeben, wie man es unter den Umständen erwarten konnte. Die 2. Scene war ausgezeichnet. Die Frau Gehr war wie immer fest in ihrer Rolle und spielte mit wirklichem Gefühl und Reiz. Auch Fräul. Aulmann und H. Jann und die Herren Fritz, Reinstorf, Conradi und Vieser waren in ihrem Spiel vortrefflich. Aber wir können uns in keine Recension einlassen. -- Das Tanzkränzchen, das nach der Vorstellung folgte, war reizend; die Musik des Prof. Hartung und der sämmtlichen Mitglieder der Bande war sehr geeignet zum Tanz, und dann herrschte auch allgemeiner Frohsinn. Ach, es verstehen nur die Deutschen, wie man gemüthlich und vergnügt leben kann, und die Des Moines Deutschen hauptsächlich.<br /><br />[transcribed by Rachel Harder]
