Chicago Patriotic Food Show
Agriculture; Food Supply; Federal Support
This letter is from the Illinois State Council of Defense. Not only was the letter purpose to ask for personal support, but also it was a state awareness letter. It suggested that if Metcalf could not personally come to the food show, that he should send a representative. The food show would be backed by many federal agencies that will not only help the morale of food budgets, but also make the food situation seem patriotic. The food show aimed to demonstrate to the public how to be patriotic and make new patriotic meals within the new food system structure.

Food Administration
Agriculture; WWI
This letter was sent from the U.S. Food Administration to state the problem that the nation must start conserving particular food intake because they needed to supply more food to the Allies overseas. This in turn was connected to a card, as suggested at the end of the letter, about enrolling into the cause and spread not only the word, but enforce the new food conservation methods.
