Description
An account of the resource
This letter is from the Bell, the Chairman of the County Board of Defense, to Herbert J. Metcalf, dated November 24, 1917. The letter accuses disloyalty in German Lutheran Churches in Ida Grove, Iowa. While he acknowledges that he spoke with a Federal officer who stated there were several similar instances, he feels the need to take the barring of German in churches one step further. He also acknowledges that he does not want to overstep boundaries, he attached a copy of a sample letter that he would like to send to the pastors of the German Lutheran Churches. He concludes the letter by asking Metcalf to review it and offer suggestions.

An account of the resource
This is a letter from H. E. Morrow a pastor from a Methodist Church of State Center, Iowa. He is informing Metcalf of a German Lutheran Church that is said to come to town every Sunday and hold a service in the German language in his church building. He wondered if it is his right and patriotic duty for a good American church to allow his building to be used by people who hold service in the German language. He wants to know what action should be taken for this circumstance.
